DT: Unscripted Sketches

I have a wonderful announcement to share...I've been asked to join the amazing design team for Unscripted Sketches! Woohoo!!  I love using sketches and adding my own spin to it.  For me, a sketch is a great way to start...especially when I'm out of mojo.
Here is this week's sketch:
I brought out from my stash one of K&Company's older paper collection to create this card.  I love the designs and color palette in this collection.  For the base of the card, I took a 4 1/4x8 1/2 black card stock and scored at 3 inches. Then fold it over to make a flap.
I took a Labels 9 die and cut another flap, tucking the back to the base of the card.  The stamped sentiment is adhered with foam tape.  I love this stamp set from Stampin' Up...nine cute pairs to choose from.  Perfect for "inside & outside" sentiments.
Added some rhinestone corners and to the centers of the flowers.  As you can see from the side view, the top flap is holding down the larger flap.
For the inside of the card, I cut a circle using the Standard Small Circle die.  Again, the sentiment is from the same set...simple and sweet!
Supplies~
pp: Amy Butler's Lotus Collection{K&Company}
cs: black; very vanilla{SU}
stamp set: petite pairs{SU}
dies: standard small circle, labels 9 {Spellbinders}
misc: daisy flowers{I Am Roses}; black rhinestones; rhinestone corners{Recollections}

Thank You

This month I'm sending a lot of "thank you" cards for all the holiday gifts we received....I know that it's a bit late, but I feel that it's better to be late than not sending it at all.  So, here's a card I made using an older pattern paper from my stash and this week's Mojo Monday sketch:

The card is pretty simple-the heart is adhered with foam tape to give it some lift from the button.  I embossed the image with gold embossing powder and used the same image around the sentiment.
other challenges:
The Play Date Cafeburgundy, gold, plum
Sweet Stampin' ~ all that glitters
Catered Crop ~ button
Supplies~
pp: Sandy Lion{Red Damask}; DeNami{Gold}; Bazzill{plum tree}
stamps/inks: SU{fresh vintage, teeny tiny wishes/eggplant eny, baroque burgundy}
dies/punches: MS{vintage floral}; Spellbinders{circle, scallop circle}; McGill{file tab punch}
misc: Recollection{glitter heart}, my stash{button}, embossing powder{honey}

Color Combos Galore

It's been awhile since I've done a layout....well, as you can tell from the sketch I am months behind the deadline.  Let me just clarify that I did start it on time, but then it sat on my scrap space for like forever! Yikes!! So I finally came around to finishing the layout.  And now, I had to share it with you all because I love the colors and happy with the end result.  Enough excuses and ramblings....here's the finished LO for Color Combos Galore:
This picture of my hubby and I was taken back in our "dating phase".  We spent alot of our weekends at the beach and our first was to Laguna Beach.
The design paper pack, Elegant Soiree{Stampin UP} goes so well with this color palette.  I distressed the edges and inked with walnut stain ink pad.  For the frame, I cut the center diagonally and curled them back.  Then made a frame using a Fiskar's border punch in very vanilla cardstock.

a little birdie told me....

this was for a dear friend of mine....Happy Birthday R.!  I love Die Cuts With A View pattern paper.  They have come out with some great paper stacks!  This stack is so summery & so cheerful.  It makes you smile. Ü
 I took white seam binding and dyed it with glimmer mist to match the pattern paper.  Then pleated it across the card with sticky tape.  I adhered the center of the greeting with foam tape to give it some dimension.  And the ends I taped flat on the card.

Supplies~
paper: whisper white; lemon flower paper stack{DCWV}
dies/punches: beaded oval, oval small {Spellbinders}; two-step owl punch, decorative label {SU};
floral vine {MS}
stamps: trees2build {the stamps of life}; four frames {SU}
inks: crushed curry {SU}; vintage photo
misc: white seam binding {hug snug}; bead trim; skeleton leaves {I Am Roses}; silver glimmer mist
