DT: Red Carpet Studio~Christmas layout

Hi everyone.  I just want to take this time to express my deepest sympathy to the families grieving from the tragic event in Connecticut.  My thoughts and prayers are with the parents and families.

Boy with everything going on, it's hard to focus on crafting...but sometimes a good distraction is not a bad thing.  If you want or need a good distraction, try scrapping a layout with this challenge from Red Carpet Studio...."create a Christmas layout".

Here's a layout using some of my last year's Christmas pictures. This is a tradition we all look forward to playing...S-A-N-T-O!  Just like BINGO, but you call out SANTO instead.  The kids love to play because not only are there fun prizes and bragging rights for getting the most SANTOs.

DT: Red Carpet Studio~vacation layout

 Hi there!  We have another layout challenge at Red Carpet Studio....create a travel layout.
Sponsor: Freckled Fawn

prize: $10 gift certificate

I did a layout on our Cabo trip last year.  We took my in-laws on a mini vacation....had a great time.  We relaxed by the pool and just hung out at the resort.  The resort was all-inclusive, so we ate and drank...alot.  Well, at least my hubby and I did. Ü   You can tell how much sun I got in the photo...pretty pink.
On the layout, I traced half a circle using a pot...gotta use what I have available. lol
I layered it with my Lucky 8 punch, Classic Wreath{using just the outer cut}.  Also used some of My Favorite Things Die-namics.
Supplies~
paper: Charming paper collection{Recollection}
tools: Classic Wreath Lucky 8 border punch{We R Memory Keepers}; fishtail banner, page banner{MFT}; swirling lace border punch {MS}; instant camera die{Lil' Inker Design}; blue ribbon punch{Fiskar}
misc: chit chat, custard Alphabet Thickers{American Crafts}; dimensional sticker{Amy Tangerine}

DT: Red Carpet Studio~Our Boy layout

Happy Sunday!  Here is this week's challenge from Red Carpet Studio...."a layout of a pet or animal"
Sponsor: Stamp N Doodle
Prize: 2 digi stamps of winner's choice

I did this layout of our boy, Scooby.  He's a boxer/lab mix and such a loveable dog.  When our cat sleeps in his bed, he would go and sleep in hers.  It's a funny sight, seeing an 85 lb dog squeezing himself into a small bed.  When they're not sleeping together, we can find them in each others bed.

This layout is for the following challenge:

Supplies~
paper: Ice Cream Parlor DPS{SU}
tools: Classic Wreath Lucky 8 punch{We R Memory Keepers}; stitched sentiment flag die{Lil' Inker Designs}
misc: flowers{Prima, Recollections}; Elm Thickers{American Crafts}

DT: Red Carpet Studio~Just Be Me layout

We have a great challenge for you at Red Carpet Studio...
prize: $25 gift certificate

 This is a layout of me on my birthday.  We went to Lake Tahoe and walked a few hiking trails.  I love the view of the mountains in the back of the photo.  I don't create many layouts of myself because I don't have many pictures. I'm usually the one taking all the photos.  But when there are pictures of me, I jump at the chance to create layouts for myself.  Ü
I tried to create a CAS layout....well, this is my version of Clean & Simple.  I love this patterns and colors in this collection.  The papers are double-sided, which is great because I ended up using only three sheets from the stack.

Supplies~
paper: Daydream & epoxy stickers{Heidi Grace}
stamps: Visual Artistry{Tim Holtz}; Just Simply Live set{My Creative Time}
tools:stitched banner{Lil' Inker Designs}; Fishtail flags{MFT}; laurel leaf border punch{MS}
misc: Amy Tangerine-Hello Thickers{American Crafts}; buttons{American Crafts}; Tim Holtz mini staples

Red Carpet Blog Hop~ABC Random

Welcome to the ABC Ransom Blog Hop,
hosted by Red Carpet Studio!

If you've come from Stacy's blog, you're in the right place.

The Red Carpet Studio designers thought it would be fun to host a mystery blog hop while showcasing projects that can be made using all those leftover letters in your stash - hence where the "ransom" comes in. Ransom notes play a huge role in mystery/suspense films, and are often created out of random letters cut from magazines, newspapers, etc. in order to disguise handwriting.

While we won't be doing any kidnapping or holding anybody ransom today - we do have some creative projects to share with you!

For my project using leftover letters in my stash, I created...
The pictures are of me with my cousins and our hubbies at a wedding rehearsal.  The wedding was for their brother and his beautiful fiancé.  For my layout, I used the paper stack, Ella Blue from g.c.d.  I love that the papers are double-sided and the patterns are gorgeous.  The papers were edged with Vintage Photo distress ink.  I used my left over letters for everyone's first initials and layered them with a Fiskar's punch, blue ribbon.

The center of the plaque was filled with diamond dust and glossy accent.  I wanted to add lots of texture to this layout....like using these gray velvet alphabets Thickers for the name of the wedding location.

The hanging plaque was inked with Vintage Photo distress ink and layered with crackle accent.  I love the "cracked" texture and the look it gives.  Then added some half back pearls to dress up the flourish.
I gathered some lace trim from my stash with some flowers from I Am Roses. Also took some twine and weaved it around the doily heart.  I love using my Dymo Label Maker....for the date of the rehearsal and for the event{top photo}.
We're also holding some blog candy ransom! However, the blog candy is hidden, and only certain stops of the hop are hiding it. The only way you can win is if you comment on those blogs! Now, we're not going to tell you whose blogs those are (that would be too easy) but we will tell you what the prizes are!

There will be three winners. Please make sure to leave your contact information when commenting so we can contact you if you win. You have until next Saturday, November 3rd, to hop and comment. Winners will be announced with the start of our next layout challenge on Sunday November 4th at Red Carpet Studio.

And don't forget to check out this week's challenge at Red Carpet Studio! Our challenge this week is inspired by "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and the challenge is to create any fall or Halloween card.

Your next stop is Robin's blog.

P.S. My letter is... S

If you can put all the letters together from each stop of the hop (they're in order), you have a chance to win a mystery prize! Once you've figured out our hidden message, email it to redcarpetstudiochallenge@gmail.com. The mystery prize winner will be announced with the other winners on Sunday November 4th. HINT: The message is a clue as to what our next layout challenge will be. :)

Supplies~

DT: Red Carpet Studio~"Silent" Layout Challenge

Welcome to our first Red Carpet Studio Challenge!  I am super excited to be a part of their first design team.  RCS has two challenge teams-layout design  and card design team.  For more information on the challenges, click HERE.
Scrapbooking is my first love when it comes to paper crafting.  And I can't wait to share my layouts with you throughout the challenges.  My creative mojo is at its highest and has been a fun, crafting journey.  So, let's get started with our first layout challenge:

Here's my layout...
I finally opened my Mariposa paper stack and coordinating chipboard embellishments for this layout.  I love the rich colors and designs in this collection.  I hate to cover up the paper, so I added just a few embellishments around the photo{of me and my niece in Santa Cruz}.  I inked the edge of the papers with walnut distress ink.

I can't wait to see your layout for this week's challenge!

Supplies~
paper: Mariposa paper stack{DCWV}
punch: deco fan{MS}; scallop trim {SU}; fishtail flags{MFT}
misc: skeleton leaves{I Am Roses}; flowers{I Am Roses, Prima, Petaloo}; diamond rhinestone & pearl flourish{Recollections}

Time Flies...Layout

Time sure flies....especially when you're at the happiest place on earth!  My friend and I bought an annual pass last year to Disneyland and boy did we take advantage of it!  I made this layout to remember our last visit using the second sketch of the month from Sketchabilities:
I used one of my favorite tools, Tim Holtz ruler to pierce all around the page.  I edged all the papers with distress ink and sprayed the pattern paper with LSG glitz spritz.  All the mulberry flowers are from I Am Roses...one of my favorite places to shop!
The picture of me goes perfectly with the title...me & the rabbit w/ his stop watch

I had bought some Easter candle holder sprays from Michael's last year and snipped a piece to use behind the flowers.  The pearls and crystal beads are from another holiday candle holder I purchased for Christmas.
The porcelain white flowers are from A Treasure Nest.  I love using these green crystal flowers...so pretty!  There's a layer of white trim underneath...just the corner peaking out.

Supplies~
pp: s.e.i.{Couture collection}
stamp: Layers of Color{brick wall}
inks: distress inks {frayed burlap, antique linen, old paper}
dies/punch: CC design{leafy branch}; Memory Box{vintage bird cage}; MFT{prima donna petals}; Quikutz{vine}; MS{classic butterfly punch}
misc: The Crafters Haven{white trim}; LSG{scintillating silver}; Recollections{pearl flourish, resin corner}; KARLAS001{crystal flowers}; Tattered Angels{clock alphabet chipboard}; Thickers{stroll, cinnamon}

TCR #73 - Treasure the moment

Another color palette & sketch at The Color Room....
After digging through my stash of goodies and hours of staring into space...LOL....I did a layout of us at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA.  I loved viewing the art collections and walking through the botanical gardens.  It is definitely worth going if you've never been.
All the flowers and leaves are from I Am Roses.  The corner chipboard pieces are from Deluxe Designs-I first painted them with green acrylic paint, then crackle medium, and a final coat of white paint.  I did a similar technique with the word "Treasure", but used white paint and picket fence crackle paint. I dabbed alcohol inks on some Thickers to match the color palette.

Supplies~
design papers: Scenic Route Paper Co., Chatterbox
ink: crushed olive
punches/dies: laurel leaf{MS}; large circle set{Spellbinders}; treasure die{Sizzix}
alcohol inks: rust, terracotta
thickers: Daiquiri, Poolside

Color Combos Galore

It's been awhile since I've done a layout....well, as you can tell from the sketch I am months behind the deadline.  Let me just clarify that I did start it on time, but then it sat on my scrap space for like forever! Yikes!! So I finally came around to finishing the layout.  And now, I had to share it with you all because I love the colors and happy with the end result.  Enough excuses and ramblings....here's the finished LO for Color Combos Galore:
This picture of my hubby and I was taken back in our "dating phase".  We spent alot of our weekends at the beach and our first was to Laguna Beach.
The design paper pack, Elegant Soiree{Stampin UP} goes so well with this color palette.  I distressed the edges and inked with walnut stain ink pad.  For the frame, I cut the center diagonally and curled them back.  Then made a frame using a Fiskar's border punch in very vanilla cardstock.

Our Family

Here's the scrapbook page I did for my mom as a Mother's Day gift. This family picture was taken on Easter at my parents' church. It's one of the few pictures we have where we're all together and smiling! Well, most of us are smiling. Ü

The stitched paper is from Prima and I absolutely love it! There's so much detail already, you don't need too much embellishments. I didn't want to overload the layout with lots of flowers, just a couple in the corners was enough to bring it all together.
