Simply Flowers

Did I mention how much I enjoy swaps?!  Well, I love swapping with crafty, talented peeps....and here's one of the swaps on A Lil Scrap of Heaven.
We had to make three flowers, fully decorated with feathers, leaves...the works.  And I have to say that I enjoyed making these.  I just hope the girls like them too. Ü
I made three different types of flowers.  The size is perfect to use on any project.  I have a project for one of these lovelies, so keep an eye out for that post. Ü

For this flower, I used Magnolia Doohickeys Dies.  I love the details on the dies.  The pearls and crystals I took from the candle holder from Michaels.  I've used them on so many projects and still have a lot left. The flowers are inked with vintage photo distress ink.
Supplies~
pp: Bailey{K&Company}
punches: classic butterfly{MS}; Doohickey dies doily flowers, peony petals, poinsettia{all from Magnolia}
misc:  white half back pearls

This black and white themed flower is made from satin fabric.  I used the Loopy Bloom die and layered the pieces on top of each other.  Then for the center, I made this pearl flowers following a YouTube tutorial.
Supplies~
dies: loopy bloom, leafy flourish, fancy flourish{all MFT}
skeleton leaves{I Am Roses}
misc: black satin fabric, handmade stick pin

 And this little beauty I made using Prima flowers.  I was lucky to find matching pearls for the center. The lace fabric flower added for a touch of vintage.  Then layered with pink feathers, pearl trim, and leaf die I inked with tumble glass distress ink.
supplies~
flowers: Prima
die: foliage{Spellbinders}

Easel Card+Gift Card Box

I found a great tutorial on how to make this gift card box.  It was easy to make and I love the way it turned out.  This is going to my swap partner at Lil' Scrap of Heaven, Craftyjo along with some goodies. Ü

The card front is from this week's sketch by Card Patterns:

 The pattern papers come from DCWV, French Country.  I just love this paper stack....the colors & patterns are so me! The edges are inked with vintage photo for a vintage look.
 Inside the box, I made a removable insert to attach the stick pins I made.  The swap was to make vintage stick pins.  This is a great way to give small gifts...cute packaging and can be easily displayed.

Supplies~
pp: French County Stack{DCWV}
stamps: Sunshine and Flowers{Hero Arts}; taglines{Flourishes}
inks: vintage photo{Tim Holtz}; rich cocoa{Memento}
punch/die: doily lace{MS}; picot edge circles{Spellbinders}

Happy.....ATC Swap

I love to participate in swaps and here's one that I did....creating an ATC{birthday themed or artist's choice}.  I wanted to do something different-I stamped "happy" on top and it's the recipient's choice to have a birthday or anniversary themed ATC.  Here's the two that I created....
Everything was glued down except the sentiment.  As you can see, I left enough room on the right side for either sentiment.  The die used for the Anniversary is from Verve and I used a MFT die for the Birthday.

Spring Tag

So tired of the cold weather...I'm so ready for spring! Here's another swap I joined on Life on the{Scrap}beach.  I have to say I went out of my element here.  First of all, the nest I handmade. I wrapped the different colored sprays & flowers with floral wrap. The design paper is from K&Company{Life's Journey}.  I distressed the edge with my distress it all from Zutter...I luv it!
Now for the bird{punch from Stampin Up}...I first stamped it with SU{music note wheel} and then sprayed with GM{tattered rose}.  Then I used tissue paper for the wing-cut 1/4" strips and then stamped & misted with the music note wheel & tattered rose mist.  Then cut them into small squares. I took the end of a paint brush and twisted a tissue square to the end & adhered it to the wing with hot glue.  This technique I remember doing back in grade school...who knew it would come back to me after all those years!

After making this tag, I felt like gardening....just waiting for the warm weather to arrive!

"The Element of Suprise" Tag Challenge

Ok, so I've been busy joining swaps this month at Life on the Scrap Beach.  I wanted to get my creative juices flowing because I've had this HUGE mental block for weeks!  I think it's from being sick over the holidays; I'm finally able to speak without coughing nonstop.

With that being said.....this is my first tag I've ever created using the #8 tag measurements{6 1/4 x 4 1/8}
from manilla folders.  Each person from the group was assigned a color and an element.  I was given the color green & charm(s) or dangle charm.  And this is what I came up with.....

Details:
I love doing the emboss resist technique when I'm not using pattern paper.  The background stamp is one of my favorites from Prima.  The edges have been distressed and inked.  The challenge/theme is "The Woman of 2011"...key words are compassionate, savvy, beautiful, timeless, nurturing, loving, courageous, etc. And I love this sentiment!  The flowers were misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Shadow Mist. I hand cut the girl out from a Hero Arts stamp.
handmade dangle charm
Supplies~
ink-peeled paint, bundle sage, vintage photo {TH}
mists-coffee shop, meadow green, wheatfields {GM}; golden doubloons{LSG-Shadow Mist}
stamps-documentary {Prima}; Woman need-sentiment {American Art Stamps}; Girlfriend {Hero Arts}
die/punch-curved rectangles{Spellbinder}; doily lace border punch {MS}
misc-beads, flowers & skeleton leaf{I Am Roses}, trim{American Crafts}, fibers{Moda Dea Eden}

"Be Mine" Valentine Swap

These are the tags I created for a swap at Life on the {Scrap} beach.  I made the tag using a SU die, Two Tags.  You fold the top down to create the flap. I got the idea from my SU demonstrator & friend, Stamp Ink Diva.  I did the emboss resist technique for the background & used TH's distress ink.  I tried to make it pretty simple because I had to make 30!

Details:
For "You're So Sweet" sentiment, I curved the clear stamp to fit the top of the tag.  With clear stamps, they're easy to shape.

supplies~
cs-black, white, red Bazzill
Stamp set- hearts2love {The Stamps of Life}
stamps-soft swirl background{SU}; "to & from" (Hero Arts)
inks- tattered rose, aged mahogany, vintage photo {TH}
g. mist- wheatfields, vanilla breeze {GM}
dies/punch-Two Tags, Heart of Hearts, Designer Label {all from SU}
misc-feather, silver eyelet, black ribbon, Sweet Pea{FlowerSoft}, clear embossing powder

July Mini Page Swap~Boy

When I signed up for the girl mini page swap, I had to sign up for the boy mini because the collection is so cute.  So, here's my July Boy Mini Page.  Check out Keep On Scrappin for montly swaps.The challenge was to distress, so I used my distress inks and NO mists! Yikes, I need my mists!! {haha} That was a challenge...lol!

front page
I used the same DP{Jack & Jill} from Graphic 45, Playtimes Past Collection.  To make the small pocket, I used a toilet paper roll and hand stitched the bottom with black embroidery floss.  The front frame is a Cuttlebug die and inked with Weathered Wood distress ink.  It's adhered with foam tape to insert a photo.

The hand cut tag's embellished with a jumper punch and a wire hanger. Also added some feathers to the corner of the pocket.  I stamped around the tag {front & back} with an alphabet border stamp in Vintage Photo distress ink.

back page

Front of the flap, added a tag from the collection.  Used a chain punch as a pocket for the inside of the page.  I hand cut the two tags-{blue} added a die from the collection to the corner and a silver star brad on top that I alcohol inked. {yellow} punched a button to the corner of the tag and clipped a clothes pin to the top.  The journalling tag I added since it went great with the collection.

*All the papers are distress inked with Vintage Photo*

July Mini Page Swap~Girl

Here's my mini page I did for July's Mini Page Swap on Keep on Scrappin.  If you love Graphic 45 ( and who doesn't right?), there's a swap each month so check it out. The collection for the month was Playtimes Past.  I chose to use the design paper, Jack & Jill.

This is the front page
The page size is 4x4, on medium weight chipboard.  I painted the chipboard with acrylic paint, antique white and dry embossed using a border stamp with distressing powder, walnut stain.  The design paper is misted with old lace and while still wet, I curled in the edges.

Closeup pics:
This is a handmade rose using cardstock.  The petals are misted with old lace and added glossy accents to look like rain drops.  I added a doily to the back of the rose. It's dabbed with some Starburst Stains and inked with walnut stain around the edge.
The top rosette was misted with Suede, originally it was ivory. For the red rosette, I adhered Diamond Dust with some Glossy Accent.  I simply curled the green wires around my stylus to give them some interest.

Here's the back page
The page was distress with Vintage Photo along the edge.  The mini envelope is from a punch and made a note card to journal.
The design paper was cut to a longer size so I can fold it over to make a flap.  Here you can add a photo or use to journal.

Supplies~
paper: DP(Graphic 45's Playtimes Past Collection-Jack & Jill); cs (Bazzill); Lasting Impression (Uptown Pinstripe)
stamps: Recollection (Flourishy); 7 Gypsies (Journal stamp set)
Glimmer Mist: Old Lace, Suede
Starburst Stains: Glory of the Sea Gold, Sea Mint Green (purchase @ Lindy's Stamp Gang)
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain
Tim Holtz Distress Powder: Walnut Stain
Punches: MS (Doily Lace); McGill (envelope)
Flowers: Recollection
Misc: Diamont Dust; Glossy Accent; acrylic paint (Apple Barrel-Antique White); die cut tag (K&Company-Wild Saffron); brown leaf ribbon(May Arts); brown ribbon (Michael's)
