Heart Journaling - week 1

The Greeting Farm is doing a class on art journaling...for the next 23 weeks!  I am super excited because (1) I am one of the 100+ students participating, (2) I've NEVER art journaled before, and (3) I'm finally going to finish a project from start to finish! Ü  So, stop by each week and see what I've created for the class.
Here's the 2 page spread for week 1 - Spread your wings
I've used a variety of acrylic paints and stamps.  I used Penny Black's Cherry Blossom stamp...which I love!  The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.  I wanted to use a TGF stamp, so I chose the set Spotlight.  The sentiment I used on the second page says:
" Just living is not enough
said the butterfly.
One must have sunshine,
freedom, and a little flower"
I wrote a message to myself-Just living is not enough, learn to spread my wings & take chances. Just be Free.  This was so much fun....I can't wait for the next assignment!

Easel Card

My MIL's birthday is just around the corner and so I wanted to make a special card for her.  I decided to combine two challenges-Mojo Monday & Catered Crop

This is a 4 1/4 card using Spellbinder's Scallop die.  I used the largest size from the dies.  I love how it turned out and can't wait to make more easel cards...I'm so hooked!
  • Colors – red, white, green, blue, gray, kraft
  • Stamps and Stickers – strawberries, sentiment, aliens/monsters, scientists or science subjects
  • Patterns – circles, checked/gingham, scallops
  • Color Mediums – markers (ProMarker, Copics, White Signo Pen)
  • Embellishments – clear gloss, glitter, charms, brads, ribbon
  • Tools – corner rounder punch, border punch, die cut shapes
  • Techniques – faux stitching, doodling/drawing, make an easel card
  • Theme – birthday, just hello/because
This is Mojo Monday's 200th sketch!  I'm so happy to participate in this week's sketch...

Little Thanks

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today, I stayed in my craft room cleaning & creating!  I love days like this!  I wish I didn't have to clean, but it was long over due! I had only a foot of working space on my desk and the rest was just a mess. LOL  So after an hour of cleaning and somewhat organized, here's a card I created:

I've cut the flower petals from the designer paper series, Play Date and ran it through my crimper. Then inked with tempting turquoise.  On the lower half of the card, I swiped ink over the embossed area to give some interest.  To the white seam binding, I ran wild wasabi ink across it several times.  After drying it with my heat gun, stamped with Stazon.  For the fabric flower, I first pulled on the edge to get create some fringe.  I ran a stitch along the center of the fabric and gathered it together.  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.

The two challenges I use are Card Patterns & Colour Q:

Supplies~all Stampin Up products unless noted
paper: Play Date Designer Series; pattern stack-subtles(wild wasabi) ; tangerine tango, basic black, whisper white
stamps: matchbox messages; thoughtful friend builder wheel
punches/embossing folders: eyelet border; flower garden; swiss dots{Cuttlebug}
inks/markers: wild wasabi, tempting turquoise, tangerine tango, basic black
misc{not SU}: seam binding, black satin fabric, gell glitter pen

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C94

I've been on a sketch kick as you can see....there are so many sketch inspirations out there!  Half the work is done for you.  I ♥ sketches!  I'm also working on some color combo challenges...stay tune for those!  This week's challenge for Crazy 4 Challenges - CENTER STEP CARD.  Here's a tut from Frances B.

Design papers and matching cs are from Mango Frost {DCWV}.  I love the colors-so bright, perfect for summer theme projects.
I stamped the image on Neenah paper.  After cutting her out, I inked the edge with C1. I paper pieced her outfit because I'm limited on my Copics stash. I love the way it came out.
