TCR #73 - Treasure the moment

Another color palette & sketch at The Color Room....
After digging through my stash of goodies and hours of staring into space...LOL....I did a layout of us at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA.  I loved viewing the art collections and walking through the botanical gardens.  It is definitely worth going if you've never been.
All the flowers and leaves are from I Am Roses.  The corner chipboard pieces are from Deluxe Designs-I first painted them with green acrylic paint, then crackle medium, and a final coat of white paint.  I did a similar technique with the word "Treasure", but used white paint and picket fence crackle paint. I dabbed alcohol inks on some Thickers to match the color palette.

Supplies~
design papers: Scenic Route Paper Co., Chatterbox
ink: crushed olive
punches/dies: laurel leaf{MS}; large circle set{Spellbinders}; treasure die{Sizzix}
alcohol inks: rust, terracotta
thickers: Daiquiri, Poolside

Heart Journaling - week 4

This week's topic is "The Girl in Me"-hand drawn of a girl.  Hmmm....this was challenging because I can't draw if my life depended on it.  It's pretty sad.  But I gave it a shot and after many tries, piles of eraser flakes all over my desk...this is what I finally created:
There's alot of flaws I know, but I think they add to the art...don't you think?  And this is my interpretation, so I'm very pleased with it.  The left page I covered with design paper from my stash, so it's very old.  I used thickers and Sizzix die for "Be Happy".  The flowers are from I Am Roses and the flourish die from MFT....these I totally love!!  The right side, I inked the page with distress inks and stamped the corners with flourish stamps from Stampendous.  Again the flowers from IAR and the poinsettias (used as leaves) are from a DooHickey die{Magnolia Stamps}.
thanks for stopping by & visit again for next week's topic!

Color Combos Galore

It's been awhile since I've done a layout....well, as you can tell from the sketch I am months behind the deadline.  Let me just clarify that I did start it on time, but then it sat on my scrap space for like forever! Yikes!! So I finally came around to finishing the layout.  And now, I had to share it with you all because I love the colors and happy with the end result.  Enough excuses and ramblings....here's the finished LO for Color Combos Galore:
This picture of my hubby and I was taken back in our "dating phase".  We spent alot of our weekends at the beach and our first was to Laguna Beach.
The design paper pack, Elegant Soiree{Stampin UP} goes so well with this color palette.  I distressed the edges and inked with walnut stain ink pad.  For the frame, I cut the center diagonally and curled them back.  Then made a frame using a Fiskar's border punch in very vanilla cardstock.

Heart Journaling - week 3

Another week of ♥art journaling...I'm having so much fun each week.  There's so many talented crafters...check out the gallery by clicking here.  Here's my spread for this week:

What I did was take some glimmer mists, color wash, and Lindy's Stamp Gang and just misted the pages to death! LOL  As you can see, some puddles of color dripped down the page which I totally love!  I stamped the edges with a flourish border stamp with brown Stazon ink.  The hot air balloons are from a stencil pack from Prima.  The letters are Technique Tuesday...i love the font!  I took an acrylic heart{Heidi Swapp} and alcohol inked it, stamped a background stamp, and glued glass glitter{GlitterandKitsch} around the it.

Stop by for next week's spread! thanks for visiting ♥

Heart Journaling - week 2

This week's assignment is Sandy Sunshine....everything & anything summery, beachy, or vacation.  And with lots of texture!  So I took whatever I had in my stash and came up with this.....
It's still in the works-I'm going to junk it up some more with embellies I haven't used, but wanted to share what I have done so far.  All the punches are EK Success and punched them out with scraps of paper I had laying around.  I used glass bead gel for the sand and painted over it with beige paint.  Then dabbed black paint over it.  The doodling is free hand...so nice not having to "think" and just let things fly.

Supplies~
punches: EK Success
misc: netting, acrylic paints, glass bead gel, markers
